As globalization continues to increase, international discussions of development and poverty have grown in importance as forums for the voices of the poor to be heard. Our participation in these forums emerges from the commitment to create space for community leadership to make their own voices heard and to seek space in discussions about poverty for organizations of the poor themselves.
In addition to working to address urban poverty at settlement, city, state, and national levels within India, SPARC is active in global networks of the urban poor that transcend national boundaries to find solutions to the problems facing urban communities.
Shack/Slum Dwellers International (SDI),
is an international network of organisations of the urban poor in over twenty countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America who share ideas and experiences and support one another in gaining access to adequate land, infrastructure and housing.
SDI brings together poor people from urban settlements to enable the rapid transfer of knowledge, experiences, solutions, and skills directly between organisations of the urban poor.
The Asian Coalition of Housing Rights (ACHR)
is a regional network of grassroots community organizations, NGOs and professionals actively involved with urban poor development processes in Asian cities. ACHR was formed in 1988 to provide a common forum for NGOs, professionals and grassroots groups to exchange ideas, share experiences and find solutions for the problem of forced evictions, housing rights and inclusive urban planning.
Homeless International
International is a UK charity that supports community-led housing and infrastructure related development in partnership with local partner organisations in Africa and Asia.
